Randy and Patty attend the Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Walk in Detroit
Patty Sunisloe, director of marketing and community outreach, organized ART's presentation at the Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Walk, with a table in the Sponsors' area where she and Randy spoke with participants. We got to spread the word about our work, but more importantly had the opportunity to hear the stories of participants who have Sickle Cell Disease or have loved ones with the genetic disorder.
ART received a Small Business Innovative Research grant from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development that supports our research toward developing a test for Sickle Cell Disease using the papSeek prenatal testing platform. The Sickle Cell Disease locus of the hemoglobin b gene is one of the first genomic sites for an inherited disorder that ART is targeting for test development. Using papSeek, the hemoglobin b genotype of fetuses will be determined by targeted next-generation sequencing.
Randy tells participants about ART's latest research toward a prenatal test for Sickle Cell Disease, and the company's recent grant award from the NIH to support this project. Dr. Randy Armant co-founded ART with Dr. Sascha Drewlo, and is its President.
